About the Survival Knife

Look, animation and handling

The Survival Knife is the largest blade silhouette among the second-gen models. The wide clip-point profile and the serrated sawback spine dominate the lower-right of the screen when equipped, far more than the slim Stiletto or the folded Navaja. The draw and inspect animations show off the chunky guard and the textured grip, and the right-click stab uses the full length of the heavy blade. In practice it handles like every CS2 knife (deploy speed and run speed are identical across all knife models; the model is purely cosmetic), so the choice is entirely about how the big bowie shape and the finish read to you. Its size is the main selling point: finishes with strong color or pattern coverage are easy to appreciate because there is so much visible blade.

Finishes the Survival Knife carries

The Survival Knife uses the standard knife finish pool rather than a unique theme. At the bottom sit the plain camos and solids that come at Battle-Scarred and Well-Worn for very little over vanilla: Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest, Forest DDPAT, Scorched, Urban Masked, and Night. Mid-tier finishes include Blue Steel, Stained, and Case Hardened. The premium end is led by Fade, Crimson Web, Slaughter, and the Doppler family (with its Phase variants and the rare Ruby, Sapphire, and Black Pearl pulls). The vanilla (no-finish) Survival Knife is its own tradeable item and is typically the cheapest way to own the model at all.

What drives value

Three levers move Survival Knife prices. Finish rarity is the biggest: a Fade or a Doppler Sapphire sits in a different league from a Boreal Forest. Wear matters most on finishes where it changes the look, so a low-float Crimson Web (tight web concentration) or a high-coverage Fade commands a premium, while pure camos barely move on float. Pattern index matters on Case Hardened (blue-heavy plays) and on Fade (percentage of fade coverage and color split). StatTrak adds a multiplier on top of all of this. Because the model is cheaper to begin with, premium finishes on a Survival Knife are a relatively affordable route to a Fade or Doppler compared to putting the same finish on a Karambit or Butterfly.

How it compares to other knife models

Within the Shattered Web second-gen group, demand and price tend to favor the Skeleton Knife and Nomad Knife, with the Survival Knife and Paracord Knife usually trading at the lower end. Against the classic roster (Bayonet, Flip, Gut, Huntsman, Falchion, Bowie) and the flagship Karambit, M9 Bayonet, and Butterfly, the Survival Knife is consistently one of the more affordable models per finish. If you want maximum blade presence on screen for the lowest entry cost, it is one of the strongest value picks; if you prioritize resale liquidity and broad community appeal, the Karambit and Butterfly hold value better.

Frequently asked questions

When was the Survival Knife added to CS2?
It launched with Operation Shattered Web on November 18, 2019, as one of five new knife models that wave (Survival, Nomad, Skeleton, Paracord, and Classic Knife).
What is the cheapest Survival Knife?
The vanilla (no-finish) Survival Knife is usually the cheapest way into the model. Among finished versions, plain camos like Safari Mesh, Boreal Forest, or Scorched in Battle-Scarred are the lowest-priced options.
How do you get a Survival Knife?
Like all knives, it drops only from opening a weapon case that contains it, at the standard rare special-item odds (around 0.26%). The practical route for most players is buying one directly off the Steam Community Market or a third-party market.
Does the Survival Knife have a Doppler?
Yes. It is part of the standard knife finish pool, so it exists in Doppler form with the usual Phase 1-4 variants plus the rare Ruby, Sapphire, and Black Pearl, along with finishes like Fade, Crimson Web, and Case Hardened.
Is the Survival Knife a good budget knife?
It is one of the better value picks. It trades below the classic Bayonet, Karambit, and M9, and its large blade makes finishes very visible in first person, so you get a lot of on-screen knife for the money.
Does the Survival Knife perform differently in matches?
No. All CS2 knives share identical deploy, run, and attack stats. The model is purely cosmetic, so the only difference versus other knives is its look and animations.
