How the CS2 drop system works

Every week the first two rank-ups on your profile grant a drop: a skin from the active map collections or a container from the drop pool. Cases in the active pool drop at full rate; cases that rotate out join the rare pool and keep dropping at a much lower rate, which is why retired cases climb in price for years. Valve does not publish pool weights, so this registry records what is observable: patch notes, release dates and weekly drop captures, each with a date.

The Armory is the second source: leveling the Armory Pass earns Stars, exchangeable for Gallery Case and the six Armory collections listed above. Armory rotations change supply overnight, and the changelog above logs each one. How often do I get a case drop?

Up to two weekly drops from profile rank-ups. The container can be any case from the active pool, or, rarely, one from the rare pool.

Do old cases still drop?

Yes. Retired cases move to the rare pool and keep dropping at a reduced rate: they never leave the game, they just become scarce.

What is the Armory?

An in-game pass: leveling it earns Stars, which exchange for Gallery Case and the Armory collections. It is the only drop source for those containers.

When is the next rotation?

Unknown: Valve does not announce rotations. This registry logs each change with a date as it is observed; the last recorded change was Jan 2026.
