Steam Client Update: New Downloads Page and Improved Library
The latest Steam client update overhauls the Downloads page with better queue management and adds new library sorting options.
Redesigned Downloads Page
The Downloads page has been completely rebuilt with a focus on clarity and control. The new layout shows download progress, speed, and estimated time remaining in a more readable format.
Queue management is now drag-and-drop enabled, letting you reorder downloads by simply dragging them. Pausing and resuming individual downloads is more responsive, and scheduled downloads now support day-of-week scheduling.
Library Improvements
New sorting options include “By Recent Achievement,” “By Review Score,” and “By Time to Complete” — all sourced from community data. These complement the existing sort options and make it easier to find your next game to play.
The library search now supports filters for controller support, Steam Deck compatibility, and multiplayer mode, accessible via filter chips below the search bar.
Performance and Stability
This update includes significant performance improvements to the Steam client, reducing memory usage by approximately 15% and improving startup time. The embedded Chromium browser has been updated to the latest stable version, improving web content rendering across the store and community pages.
